La Petite Boucle & La Laiterie de Saint-Malo : the cyclologistic at the service of fresh and local

How to deliver ultra-fresh products in the heart of a tourist city like Saint-Malo, while respecting the cold chain and reducing the environmental impact ? This is the challenge brilliantly met by La Petite Boucle, cooperative specializing in cyclologistics, in partnership with the Laiterie de Saint-Malo.

A logistics hub in the heart of the port

Since April 2024, La Petite Boucle operates from a microhub installed in the port of Saint-Malo. This logistics platform allows trucking trucks to drop off their goods at the entrance of the city. Then, La Petite Boucle takes over with its cargo bikes to make deliveries throughout the city, including in the Intramuros, which is not easily accessible during tourist periods.

« We are more efficient, deliver faster and in greater quantity. »

Refrigerated transport: a fresh mission for the Laiterie de Saint-Malo

When the Laiterie de Saint-Malo opens its first shop in the heart of the city, a logistical challenge is imposed: to deliver yoghurts, desserts and ultra-fresh cheeses in perfect cold conditions.

The solution ? The alliance between a cargo bike and a FlexiModal BicyLift trailer, equipped with COLD & CO CarryTemp XL9 insulated container. Thanks to this box designed for the cold chain requirements, combined with eutectic plates and a rigorous temperature control, deliveries are made safely.
“They were able to reassure us with suitable equipment and rigorous temperature monitoring.”

A delivery that has meaning and impact

Beyond the technical aspect, delivery by cargo bike creates a strong link between brand and territory. The isothermal container dressed in the colors of the Saint-Malo dairy becomes a mobile visibility support, appreciated by the general public and consistent with the ecological commitments of the brand.

“Customers find it fun, modern and in tune with the times.”

A project coordinated by Mixenn, facilitator of sustainable urban logistics

This innovative project was initiated and carried out by Mixenn, a structure engaged in the transformation of urban logistics. By supporting local actors — carriers, cyclologists, traders — Mixenn has created the conditions for successful experimentation: coordination of flows, definition of logistical needs and linking up the right partners.

When cyclologistics is at the service of fresh

This testimony is concrete proof that solutions such as the CarryTemp XL9 peuvent s’adapter aux enjeux urbains : logistique du dernier kilomètre, maintien de la chaîne du froid, accessibilité en centre-ville, et communication de proximité.

Keeping the Cold Chain during the handling of messenger RNA vaccines against COVID-19

Exposure of Cominarty and Moderna vaccines to room temperature for more than 3 minutes is irreversible as the vaccine is considered thawed. It can’t be re-frozen. In January 2021, the Cold Health Commission “Covid-19” of the « Association Française du Froid » (AFF) published several understanding notes, information and good practices of the cold chain around COVID-19 vaccines. 1. Protecting varnishes and paints from the cold: the unexpected ally of the fine chemistry sector

In the fine chemistry sector, some formulations are extremely sensitive to temperature variations. This is particularly the case for varnishes, paints and glosses for textiles and leather, used in particular for finishing edges and delicate surfaces. These products, often packaged in small bottles of 100 mL to 1 L, must never go below 5°C, sometimes
