🚲 Narvélos & COLD & CO: a fresh cyclologistic for school canteens in Paris
Deliver organic, fresh and local products by bike, respecting the cold chain and logistical constraints of Parisian school canteens? This is the bet taken by the Coopérative Bio d’Île-de-France, the SCOP Narvélos and the Caisse des Écoles of the 13th arrondissement, thanks to an innovative solution: the CarryTemp XL9 isothermal container from COLD & CO.
Une expérimentation prometteuse
Carried out by the Coopérative Bio d’Île-de-France and the Caisse des Écoles of the 13th arrondissement, this experiment aimed to test a cyclologistic solution for delivering fresh products such as dairy products or quinoa. The objective: to demonstrate the feasibility of a sustainable delivery, respecting the time and health constraints of school canteens.
Key equipment: the CarryTemp XL9 container
The insulated container CarryTemp XL9 from COLD & CO, used on a BicyLift trailer towed by a JHOG-E cargo bike, played a central role in the success of the project. Thanks to its eutectic plates, it has made it possible to keep the products at a constant temperature throughout the journey, without breaking the cold chain.
Narvélos has equipped its boxes with internal temperature sensors and checked the temperature of the food during delivery with an infrared thermometer.
“The initial results are very positive. We have the ambition to perpetuate this model on a larger scale.” – La Coopérative Bio d’Île-de-France
Logistics with a positive impact
Alexandre Devos, co-founder of the SCOP Narvélos, is a committed figure in the Francilian cyclologistic.
This project demonstrates innovative, environmentally friendly and socially engaged urban logistics. It shows that technology, ecology and cooperative commitment can go hand in hand to reinvent last-mile transport.
“We can’t wait to roll a lot of isothermal containers filled with organic and local products to more kitchens!” – Narvélos
At COLD & CO, we are proud to have contributed to this inspiring adventure by providing a reliable and adapted solution to the challenges of urban cyclology.
