COLD & CO’s eutectic plate is used in addition to our range of isothermal containers such as our classic CarryTemp, CarryTemp XL or our professional PPE DistriFresh boxes.
They are mainly used by producers and actors of the food distribution and food trades such as logisticians and cold express operators, caterers, restaurants and craftsmen, butchers, fishmongers, bakers, pastry cooks, creameries and cheese makers, etc.
Instructions of use
The -3°C eutectic plates need to be charged beforehand by placing them in the -20°C freezer for a minimum of 24 hours. Depending on the number of plates to be charged and the power of your freezer, a period of 48h (or even more) may be necessary to fully charge your eutectic plate.
To accelerate the freezing of the eutectic gel contained in your plate, we advise you to let the air circulate between the eutectic plates, or even to arrange them in staggered rows in your freezer.
A COLD & CO -3°C eutectic plate is fully charged when all the liquid inside its shell has become solid. As the shell is not transparent, a trick is to shake the plate when you take it out of the freezer to make sure it is frozen. If you perceive a liquid or semi-liquid state or if you hear the gel moving inside, the plate is not fully charged and should be returned to the freezer.
In order to always have eutectic plates ready for use, we recommend that you have a double or even triple set of plates to organize a rotation system between the plates that have been recharged and those that have already been recharged to be used.
The eutectic plates have a rigid outer shell made of high density polyethylene (HDPE) to resist impact, compression and puncture. These shells are filled with the -3°C eutectic liquid and then closed with a crimped cap.
COLD & CO’s -3°C eutectic plates are sturdy with reinforced corners and have anchor points for fixing if necessary.
The eutectic plates are manufactured with a non-toxic and environmentally friendly material: polyethylene
The -3°C eutectic plates comply with the NF EN 12546-3 standard “Materials and articles in contact with foodstuffs – Insulating containers for domestic use – Part 3: specification for thermal accumulators”.
Installation of the plates
When handling your COLD & CO -3°C eutectic plates, we recommend that you use cold protection gloves. For a better descent in temperature of your isothermal container, we advise you to lay out your frozen eutectic plate in top part of your container because the cold air goes down. If necessary, you can place the plates in priority on the large side faces and then finish with the small side faces.
