COLD & CO THERMAL LABORATORY

Test, analyze, optimize: at the heart of the cold chain.

At COLD & CO, we go beyond design: we test every solution in our own laboratory, to guarantee performance perfectly adapted to your thermal and logistical requirements.

Thanks to our Research & Development department, each container/refrigerant combination is tested and optimized according to your specific needs – whether for fresh, dry or frozen products, in the healthcare or food sectors.

Our mission: qualify your cold solutions according to your needs

Every project is unique. Thanks to our integrated laboratory, we design and validate isothermal solutions tailored to your needs: transport time, target temperature, regulations, logistics costs.

Our experts can help players in the medical, food and logistics sectors to:

  • Study the physical characteristics of heat-sensitive products: target temperature, dimensions, quantity, volume, weight.
  • Simulate the temperature profiles of the complete logistics circuit
  • Limit components to reduce costs
  • Optimize volume to control transport costs
  • Study the reusability of solutions
  • Integrate sustainable and eco-responsible materials

Two testing approaches: standardized & real-life conditions

Testing according to standardized protocols

Our isothermal packaging and containers are tested in compliance with the following standards:

  • NF S99-700: the recognized qualification for healthcare products
  • ISTA, IATA, WHO

These protocols guarantee rigorous, reproducible and internationally recognized results.

Simulations specific to your conditions of use

Because reality in the field is often far more complex than standards, our laboratory also carries out customized tests:

  • Thermal profiles simulating your exact routes
  • Extreme conditions or specific operational constraints
  • Actual loading configurations (arrangement of your heat-sensitive products, mass, opening time, etc.)

This approach validates the actual performance of your solutions in YOUR logistics, and optimizes their efficiency.

Our technical testing resources

Two climatic chambers

Our climatic chambers can simulate temperature cycles :

  • from -25°C to +60°C
  • over variable durations: 1h, 6h, 12h, 24h, 48h, 72h, …
  • according to standard profiles (NF 599-700, ISTA) or specifically defined with our customers.

Their role? To faithfully recreate the conditions your products will encounter during storage, transport or load-break.

In this way, we accurately measure the ability of our solutions to maintain the cold chain in a variety of environments, including extreme ones.

Probes and recorders

Our thermal probes and connected loggers accurately measure temperature variations inside our containers.

These sensors ensure continuous traceability throughout the testing process by recording data at regular intervals.

The thermal behavior of the container/refrigerant configurations is then analyzed and adjusted for optimum performance.

Our recordings are also used to document qualifications, particularly for regulated or pharmaceutical uses.

Calibrated freezers

Our thermal laboratory is equipped with freezers capable of reaching the very low temperatures required to recharge eutectic plates used to transport frozen products.

These plates, which solidify at -30°C, require a recharging temperature as low as -40°C to guarantee maximum efficiency.

Thanks to these freezers, we are able to validate and qualify our containers for extreme use.

Thermal qualification and customized customer support

Reproduce your logistical conditions

At COLD & CO, we test packaging as if it were already on the road in your operations.
This is the best way to ensure the reliability of the solution.

Co-constructing your cold chain

STEP 1 :
Analysis of customer needs

STEP 2 :
Prototyping and preliminary testing

STEP 3 :
Qualification of the final solution

We start with a detailed understanding of your context:

  • Nature of the product: volume, weight, temperature range
  • Packaging and transport time
  • Typology of the logistics chain: storage, distribution, modes of transport
  • Economic and environmental constraints
Simulation of ambient temperatures according to season

Based on this analysis :

  • We select or develop suitable containers and coolants
  • We present physical prototypes and test their thermal performance under real, controlled conditions
  • We support your teams in parameterization and implementation

Together, we validate the solution with an official qualification report, including :

  • Test conditions and protocols
  • Detailed results and graphics
  • A performance diagram and clear illustrations of the set-up

Guarantee the thermal stability and ease of use of your solution in your operating context with the COLD & CO Academy

What happens next? We remain at your side throughout the life cycle of your solution:

  • Training your teams in the correct use of containers and eutectic plates,
  • Quality monitoring, field feedback, adjustments in real-life conditions,
  • Ongoing adaptation to changes in your flows, requirements or regulations.
