Eutectic plates

The eutectic plates have a rigid external shell designed in high density polyethylene (HDPE) to resist shock, compression and punctures. These shells are filled with the desired eutectic liquid or PCM and then closed by a crimped cap.

With weights ranging from 2kg to 4kg, the eutectic plates have more standardized sizes called gastronorm. Currently, we find:

  • GN 1/1 plates of dimensions 530 x 325 x 30 mm
  • GN 1/2 plates of dimensions 325 x 265 x 30 mm
  • PL484 plates of dimensions 480 x 280 x 40 mm that can be inserted in a GN 1/1 format

Previously frozen, the PCM releases its energy to cool your insulated container. Study our table below and choose your PCM according to your desired cold and your freezing capacities.

Your coldchain need PCM Cold restitution Recommended freezing protocol
Positive cold N3 0°C to 6°C Minimum 24h at -18°C

Flexible gels

Soft gels, also called gel packs, are flexible bags made of an opaque or transparent film containing the eutectic or the PCM in gelled form. These pockets are lighter and more economical than a rigid gel due to the economy of the rigid shell. However, they should be frozen well flat to give them a homogeneous shape after freezing.

Absorbent flexible gels

Absorbent gels are flexible gels whose film constituting the bag is made of absorbent material. Thus the condensation and drops of water – that normally appear during melting of conventional gels –  are absorbed by this woven coating. We recommend this coating to protect heat-sensitive products from moisture. As with conventional flexible gels, they should be frozen well flat to give them a homogeneous shape after freezing.

Flexible gel to fill

Our flexible gel to fill is called JAW Pack (Just Add Water Pack). It is a flexible gel to which water must be added thanks to a mouthpiece. The water mixes with the existing powder in the sachet and instantly gelates. As with conventional soft gels, it should be frozen well flat to give it a homogeneous shape after freezing.

It has a low weight and size. It is therefore ideal for users who need to optimize their transport and storage costs. It is particularly suitable for situations with a centralized stock dispensing small quantities of point-to-point gels.

  • Flexible gel to fill
  • Freezing temperature: minimum 24h at -20 ° C
  • Eutectic point: 0 ° C
  • Cold restitution 0 ° C to 7 ° C
  • Dim. : 235 x 164
  • Weight before adding water: 14 g
  • Capacity from 400ml to 800ml depending on the volume of water filled

Dry ice

Dry ice is carbon dioxide (CO2) in solid form. Its constant temperature of -79.8 ° C allows a powerful and efficient energy return. It is perfectly suited to maintaining negative cold temperatures.

Cold & Co offers you to use it as refrigerants in 2 formats:

  • Sticks, ideal for small volumes thanks to its abundance;
  • Plate, mainly for large volume containers.

Dry Ice sticks

  • 16 mm stick with weight of +/- 10 g
  • Up to 60 kg: 10 or 20 kg package
  • From 60kg: bulk
